Look what the coleus drug in.
This is a great week to visit Red Wing. Davina and the Vagabonds, a hot New Orleans style blues and jazz band, kick it off Wednesday night, 7pm, with a free concert in the park. Friday starts Red Wing River City Days with live music starting at noon and going to 11pm followed by a laser light show. Saturday’s music begins at 5pm with the Back Channel Blues Band and followed at 8:30 by the Lamont Cranston Blues Band. A giant fireworks display follows. There are also food booths, rides for the kids, a beer tent, and a classic car show. All of this takes place right on the banks of the Mississippi.

Red Wing has several events happening this week. Wednesday night, July 9, catch a free concert in the park featuring Generation II, a big band that’s been playing swing music for many years. The concert is free. Saturday, July 12, is the annual Anderson Center for the Arts music and art festival. Artist’s studio’s are open to tour, music is performed inside and out, local beer and wine tasting, good food, and much more. The play, Cinderella, opens at the Sheldon Theater this weekend. This is just the tip of things to do in Red Wing.

Finally the plants are coming up. I think this is called Spring. These pretty little tulips are just outside our kitchen door so we pass by many times a day. It’s good.

The number of bald eagles nesting in Red Wing has increased significantly. It is not unusual to watch them glide over the B&B. Official eagle spotting will be set up the next two weekends at Colville Park. Stay with us this weekend, January 25 and 26 and save $140 on any room. You could buy some binoculars with the money you save. Call 866-388-8145.
