Minnesota wines have come a long way. Falconer Vineyards has been an integral part of that growth. Located just 10 minutes from the Moondance Inn, you can sit on an open covered deck, sip delicious wine, eat a gourmet wood fired pizza, and enjoy viewing a pretty vineyard surrounded by the bluffs that surround Red Wing. There are 5 other winery’s within a half hour drive from our B&B.

Guests often write in our room journals. We thought we’d share this one. It put a smile on our faces.

Oliver’s Wine Bar recently celebrated its one year anniversary. This gem of a restaurant serves a great selection of tapas as well as delicious pasta dishes. The atmosphere is contemporary casual. We love eating here as do our guests. Here is a link to their website http://www.oliverswinebar.com/

The Bayside Tap and Steakhouse serves perfectly prepared steak dinners at very reasonable prices. A guest at the Moondance ordered this 32oz. beauty. Wow. They have much smaller steaks, great Ahi tuna, and other tasty dishes. We highly recommend.
Oh yes. He ate the whole thing.

Great women’s clothing store
Is shopping a part of your vacation trip? You won’t find Nordstrom’s or Macy’s but you will find numerous unique stores to shop in Red Wing. Go Brazen is a very cool women’s clothing and jewelry store. The owner is welcoming, knowledgeable, and you don’t have to be a size 2 to find something you will love.

This band reminds me of great bluegrass and the original Pure Prairie League. Fantastic harmonies and beautiful instrumentation. Their latest album debuted at #1 on Billboards bluegrass chart. See them in the intimacy of Red Wing’s Sheldon Theater this Saturday, March 5th, at 7pm.

Hundreds of bald eagles are beginning their migration up the Mississippi River. You can easily watch them soar above Red Wing’s bluff country. You might want to take a scenic drive along the Mississippi to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha (one hour drive from Red Wing).
The Moondance Inn is running some great specials this time of year. Go to our Specials Page for details.

Here is an easy Friday night get-away. Drive to Red Wing (about an hour from the Twin Cities). Check in to the Moondance Inn. Your room will have a fireplace and two-person whirlpool. Wine and appetizers are served that evening. We buy your dinner at Marie’s Underground (a special we are running until April 30, 2016). You walk one block to Jimmy’s pub for great cocktails and live music in a warm English pub. Oh, did I mention a full, home cooked breakfast in the morning?

One of the great adventures in this area is to drive the Great River Road. Red Wing serves as the starting point. You cross the river into Wisconsin and then follow the Mississippi River to Nelson Wisconsin. Along the way you will see breath taking scenery, pass through numerous quaint villages, enjoy great food, taste wine, and see bald eagles. You cross the river back to Wabasha and can stop to visit the National Eagle Center. It’s a great road trip easily completed in a day.
